stempel selbst machen material
the cutting plotter can be used for designing stickers from adhesive foil. i want to show you how to custom design the cover on this black notebook. i will also show you a little trick for applying jam jar labels. the steps are very similar for both designs, but you should be more careful when applying your design on glass. my design is ready and saved as a vector file. i can open it via coreldraw
to set up the job for the cutting plotter. it’s important to set all lines and clicking on the x mark on the bottom right. can only process and cut hairlines. once i have set the hairlines i have to check the dimensions and position of my design to select a printer, which in our case is the cutting plotter. especially pen speed and pen force. you can find all settings for different cutting jobs under wiki.happylab.at.
next i can specify the dimensions of the foil here and then confirm it. now i can see my design in the print preview and its position on the material. i recommend to reposition the design to the bottom left, which is also where the zero point of the plotter is at. i will move it to the bottom left. now i can start the job. before sending the file to the machine, i have to insert the material and prepare the machine.
once my design is cut, i can weed it. for the next step i will need a transfer foil sheet on the notebook. once i have peeled off the parts i don’t want on my object, i can start working with the transfer foil first i will remove the paper from the backside of the foil and carefully put the foil on my design. i can peel off the carrier paper from the adhesive foil and transfer my design on the notebook
by pressing the foil on it. now my notebook is finished. using the same principle, you can make new designs for other surfaces like for example glass. for transferring adhesive foil to glass i will show you a little trick. i recommend to wet the glass before transferring your design. first i will prepare my design and apply it to the transfer foil. then i will wet the surface of the glass so that my foil doesn’t slip during application
to avoid repositioning. that allows me to position my design on the desired area. the last step is to squeeze out any water from underneath the foil. the new design for the jam jar is finished. using water is especially helpful when applying larger designs on for example window surfaces.
